Community Food Bank of New Jersey

We fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long-term solutions. We engage, educate and empower all sectors of society in the battle. We fill the emptiness caused by hunger with Food, Help and Hope.

LINC (Linking Initiative for Neighborhood Change) is a teen-led non-profit organization working to address resource inequity in New Jersey. They support New Providence residents in need with food, clothing, and other supplies. Based out of the United Methodist Church on Springfield Avenue, LINC accepts donations of food and hygiene products which it distributes on a monthly basis.

OLP Food Pantry

For over 18 years, our parish has maintained a food pantry as a temporary help to those persons in our community who find themselves in need. Non-perishable food items can be left in the entrances to the church or brought to the rectory at any time. The coordinator would be pleased to recommend types of food most needed. Tuesdays from 10am-12pm.

American Consumer Credit Counseling is a nonprofit credit counseling agency that helps consumers take control of their financial lives through credit counseling, debt consolidation, and financial education. Since 1991, we have been improving lives and providing solutions to people in need of financial help.

Atlantic Health System Financial Assistance

Atlantic Health System guarantees that patients receive essential health care services regardless of their ability to pay. Financial assistance is available through a variety of programs to low-income, uninsured and underinsured patients who do not otherwise have the ability to pay all or part of their hospital bills.

Utility Assistance Programs

The HEA Program is federally funded and was created to help low-income residents with their heating and medically necessary cooling bills. Assistance is available to eligible households through LIHEAP and includes benefits to assist with heating bills and certain emergency needs. Additional funds may be available for medically necessary cooling assistance and heating repairs.

New Jersey’s Child Care Program

As so many families know, child care costs can take up a lot of the monthly budget. The Child Care Subsidy Program can help lower-income families who are working, in training or in school, or a combination of these activities to pay a portion of their child care.

LSNJ coordinates the statewide Legal Services system, which provides free legal assistance to low-income New Jerseyans for their civil legal problems. Through its work, LSNJ strives to secure substantive and procedural justice for those living in poverty.

The Waterfront Project

The Waterfront Project is a nonprofit legal clinic and HUD-certified counseling agency committed to providing comprehensive, multi-disciplinary services to individuals and households at risk of homelessness in Hudson, Union and Bergen Counties.

Programs range from housing and financial counseling to free legal services and survivor advocacy.

Overlook Hospital Charity Care

The New Jersey Hospital Care Payment Assistance Program (Charity Care) is available to patients for inpatient and outpatient services at all acute care hospitals throughout New Jersey. Medically necessary services may be eligible for patients who meet income and asset criteria.

New Jersey’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, NJ SNAP, provides food assistance to families with low incomes to help them buy groceries through a benefits card accepted in most food retail stores and some farmers markets.

NJ Healthcare: Free Assistance

New Jersey Citizen Action Education Funds provides free ACA education, outreach, and assistance services to New Jersey residents to help them understand and apply for affordable health care coverage options through New Jersey’s health insurance marketplace, GetCoveredNJ, as well as NJFamilyCare. We offer free one-on-one health care enrollment assistance, in English and Spanish

HomeSharing

Since 1984 HomeSharing's mission has been to prevent homelessness through shared affordable housing.

The HomeSharing process begins with an intake phone call or visit by the client to collect basic information and to initially screen the client into HomeSharing services or to make referrals to other agencies.
